Megson eyeing new Trotters

Bolton manager Gary Megson is determined to beef up his squad in the January transfer window in a bid to preserve their Premier League status.

Megson: Needs new signings

Megson saw his side suffer their second successive defeat in the festive fixtures when they went down 1-0 to Wigan at the Reebok Stadium on Sunday.

On-loan striker Amr Zaki's 44th-minute penalty - his 11th goal of the season - was enough to separate the two sides.

It leaves Bolton again looking anxiously over their shoulders and Megson seeking reinforcements.

He said: "We have got to get some players in. We have known this all along. If you look at the bench we've got three kids on it.

"We've already made inquiries but as you can imagine there are not a huge number of players available in January.

"It is going to be difficult, we will have a look around and see what we can do as we are effectively working with a first-team squad of only 14 players."

"personally i think we could benefit by signing taylor for 0.5m-1m, and then sign a new striker on loan perhaps. i would like to see someojne exciting like manucho, sturridge or even jo on loan till end of season to boost the attack. then a new defensive midfielder is needed, experienced, and finally another defender, like berra or perhaps another loan move for someone like davenport at west ham or zat knight. "Two more defensive midfielders at the end of their careers it is then Mr Megson...... "
