Tevez keen to tie up United deal

Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez insists he is happy at Old Trafford and is confident of agreeing a permanent deal with the champions.

The Argentina international is currently in the second year of a complicated loan move, with that agreement set to expire in the summer.

United are yet to offer the combative front-man a full-time contract, with the issue having hung over both player and club for some considerable time.

Tevez has been utilised mainly as a squad player by Sir Alex Ferguson this season and has seen his number of outings limited as a result.

However, having helped the club to domestic and European glory last term, the 24-year-od is adamant that he sees his long-term future at Old Trafford.

"I am not preoccupied about my future," Tevez told the Daily Mail.

"My instincts are to stay with the club and in the next week or so I think there will be more contact with regards to sorting out my contract. That is what we've been told.

"My agent is in touch with United all the time and he tells me that everything is very positive now. So it is up to the club.

"Other clubs have asked about me but I see my future at United."

Of those 'other clubs' said to be interested, Spanish giants Real Madrid are thought to he heading the queue.

The reigning Primera Liga champions have a reputation for landing high-profile summer signings, but Tevez remains hopeful that United will find the funds to match his considerable price tag.

"Some people say that £32million is high but I cannot comment on that. Those are the figures that were agreed at the start. I am not responsible," he added.

"It has been a complicated season for me, there is no point denying that. I have not been able to get as many minutes on the field as I would like because the quality of the forwards at the club is incredible.

"It is not easy for forwards to get into this team and I have suffered. But that does not make me want to leave. I have no urge to run away."

"there is no doubt that we should keep tevez as there seems to be uncertainty over whether ronaldo will stay at the end of the season, man utd would be fools to let a player of tevezs quality to go, also van der sar signed a new contract so he is at man utd for at least another year, and when he does leave ben foster is more than capable of replacing him, remember his performanc at derby last year, you could say that if we drew or lost that game then would would not have won the title"

"i would rather have tevez than rooney as he is way too over rated. tevez needs games to be at his best, what he did at his last two clubs."

"Tevez isn't worth 32m, but should we pay it, yes! We cannot afford to lose a player of his quality mid way through the season."

"up united: pls can anybody tell United fans why ManU has not agreed a permanent deal for Carlos Tevez. looking at last season what he did for manU scoreing the important goals when it matters, he has equelly shown dat quality this season as well. pls United should not let a big striker like him to leave old traford.

Mean while MANU need experience goal keeper, sir Alex should bid for Shay Given's as Van der Sar in his final season and Tomas/Ben still dont look like a regular no 1.GIVEN's has been an experinece in goalkeeping position and has gain premieship long term experinece. pls Sir Alex and back room staff should do somthing about this Two top players. happy new year "

"Yes he has played less than last season, but when you sit down and look at the actual minutes on the pitch compared to the others (Rooney and Berbatov) he hasn't played much less than them at all. This story has(along with his price which is NOT a 32 million lump sum come June) has been hyped up by the media non stop. Both parties want to deal and a deal will be done soon. And thank god for that!!"

"Tevez, please stay!"

"I think what is holding a permanent deal is the legal situation of Tevez's agent. I'm confident he will remain at OT. Would hate to see him leave. "
