Megson defends Morrison approach

Bolton manager Gary Megson has defended the club's actions in their unsuccessful attempts to sign West Brom midfielder James Morrison.

The Wanderers manager was criticised by the Baggies last week after news of a £3million bid was made public.

Megson has since ended his pursuit of the player but denied West Brom manager Tony Mowbray's claim he tried to disrupt the 22-year-old midfielder.

"There's a way of doing business, how it is supposed to be done, by the book, and then there is the reality," Megson told the Bolton News.

"We followed the protocol that was set when Abdoulaye Meite left this place for West Brom in the summer."

"Megson must have known we wouldn't let him leave for such a pathetic sum so how else are we supposed to take it?"
