Zenit St Petersburg star Andrei Arshavin has indicated he would be interested in a January move to Arsenal as the two clubs haggle over a fee.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Russia forward and reports over the weekend suggested they have already had one bid - of around £10million - turned down by his current employers.
Arshavin is keen to leave Zenit in this month's transfer window and Arsenal are believed to be leading the chase for the Russia international, though Manchester City have also been linked with a swoop for him.
And the 27-year-old believes he would be well suited to Arsenal as they play a similar style of football to Zenit.
Arshavin is quoted by the Daily Telegraph as saying: "In some games last season, we played football which was very similar to that of Arsenal."
Arshavin's favoured shirt is taken at Arsenal by William Gallas, but he added: "I would prefer my present No 10 but in the team where I hope to move it's not vacant. So I'm ready for any number they are going to offer me."

"I think he will be a good signing for you, although he is not worth 20million.
but do you not think this move would put too much ars in 1 team? "

"Wenger want to sign only one player, that is why he is draging the signing of Arshavin. Wenger in the name of the round leather called football, pls buy this guy in time and sign one central defender and defensive midfielder."

"didnotseeit: I think the FIFA rule which allows one to buy out his contract is not being done on a high level because of some sort of gentlemans agreement between the top clubs."

"sydney australia, true, you would think at his age its all about the money but clearly its still all about the footie and proving himself just like Marcos Senna who I now have even greater respect for."

"This is getting really boring, just like last transfer season it said ashravin will be at arsenal, never happened, i wouldnt be suprised if dont buy again."

"Have Man City even gone in for him? Arsenal don't need another short midfielder. They need another Patrick Viera to complete their team in my opinion."
moneill (Arsenal fan)
"he could well go to city though... Arsenal will not pay more the 12 million for him... City could obviously fart over 12 million without noticing... My guess is he could go to city for round 18 million.. and hugh wages... i said it from the start that we wouldnt get this player... and now its looking like we wont.. which is a shame."
FaroeGooner (Arsenal fan)
"I think he will give us the same as Hleb, but plus some crackin goals. He'll fit in perfectly i reccon. - 23 is also a good number Arsh' :o)"
