Norwich call time on Roeder spell

Norwich City have terminated manager Glenn Roeder's contract with immediate effect after Tuesday night's FA Cup exit at the hands of Charlton.

The Canaries were beaten 1-0 and are currently only outside the Championship relegation zone by virtue of goal difference.

Roeder moved to Carrow Road in November 2007 and helped steer the club away from relegation last season.

However, Norwich have struggled this season and Roeder leaves along with first-team coaches Paul Stephenson and Adam Sadler.

City chairman Roger Munby said: "We'd like to place on record our sincere gratitude and admiration for what Glenn and his staff achieved last season when they saved the club from relegation against the odds.

"However this season the position has become untenable and it is with regret that the board have decided to take this step.

"We are in the process of deciding who will take charge of the team for Saturday's Championship match against Barnsley at Carrow Road and a further announcement will be made about this in due course."

The club also can confirmed the contracts of first-team coaches Paul Stephenson and Adam Sadler have also been terminated with immediate effect.

"lol roeder....kicked out of NUFC, kicked out of norwich....good luck elsewhere...why not try league 1?"

"Really think this fella needs to look himself in the mirror now and accept he just hasn't got what it takes to be a 1st team manager. It's a shame 'cos he's a nice guy who's been through a lot, but he just lacks presence and authority, and is much more suited to a right-hand man job. "

frankopool (Liverpool fan)

"So I hear Norwich is gonna get former Norway coach, Aage Hareide. He stunk as manager for the national team, but he has a great record to show for at club level. "

He has done nothing other than stop us going down and so has destroyed most of the team and relied upon loan signings who really just aren't good enough. Bring back Worthy!!!!"
