Prem trio fight for unsettled Gelson

Gelson Fernandes has been linked with three Premier League clubs after his agent admitted the Swiss star is likely to leave Manchester City.

Fernandes: Expects to be leaving Eastlands
Fernandes: Expects to be leaving Eastlands

Bolton, Fulham and Portsmouth have all been credited with an interest in the midfielder, who fears he will have to quit Eastlands to secure regular first-team football.

With City poised to spend big this summer, Fernandes expects to be told he is free to leave the club.

Indeed, his agent Marcel Schmid says: "He is quite unhappy about his situation.

"City have spent an awful lot of money on players who are very similar to him and they will play them because they cost a lot of money - not because they are better.

"He wants to be playing not for 10 or 12 minutes every time. He wants to play for 90 minutes because he's that sort of player.

"He is the motor of the team - not a 10-minute player.

"What we have is a lot of talk with several clubs in several countries.

"There are at least half a dozen clubs in various countries talking to us now, but it is not at a stage where we can say there is an offer.

"Clubs are trying to find out behind the scenes whether Gelson will be available or not.

"First of all, they have to find out if they can afford him.

"Secondly, we have to see from a sporting point of view whether he is prepared to go there."

Dr Ian (Manchester City fan)

"Fernandes the motor of the team? More like the Swiss Sun Jihai. He's better than De Jong and Kompany? His agent is deluded. He isn't picked because he's not good enough - only on the bench because we're short of players. As for Jihai being the best crosser of a ball (ctid1971) - open your eyes not in the same league as Summerbee (both Mike and Nicky), Petrov, Beagrie, Elano, Cooke etc etc."

vKompany (Manchester City fan)

"Cherio Fernandes, you were a pile of junk when you first signed for us. Waste of 2m. Now go to some rubbish club in league 1, thats where you belong.

Your a headless chicken lost for food. "

Bluefen

"Clumsy but a master of passing the ball (backwards and sideways)...not surprised he's been shown the door..."

"carlton palmer swiss love child, plays just like his father. do you think Seville will do a swap for fabiano for Jo and Elano "

blue zorba (Manchester City fan)

"He did a job for us when allowed to do so. I dont think he is a bad player. I watched him in the Swiss National team and he works hard. Could have done with him in the sides that got walked over by Fulham at home and WBA away"

Craig_W_ (Fulham fan)

"Poor mans Dickson Etuhu, and thatts saying something!"

malcolm (Everton fan)

"Interesting perspectives from the City fans but I can't help wondering if his inability to play at his best has something to do with the inability of the backroom staff to get the best out of the players. Think Jo. Goes to Everton and does a great job but you City fans wanted to wish him good riddance. You gotta be wondering."

ctid1971 (Manchester City fan)

"Dont diss Jihai he was a legend, Best crosser of a ball at the club"

dalton (Manchester City fan)

"I would pay to see him go "
