Wigan hope to have found another Honduran gem after signing Deportivo Olimpia midfielder Hendry Thomas, subject to international clearance.
The 24-year-old was due to join the club last summer but his move was turned down as he did not meet the work permit criteria because he had not played enough games for his country.
However, that situation has now improved and a deal was agreed a couple of months ago between the clubs, with the player now passing a medical and agreeing terms.

"bcfc_83 my apologies, i hadn't looked ant the clubs coming up.
ps. do you want de-ridder back? do you a good deal :)"

"Was not a critisism just an observation really. I agree Wigan are well run (wish I could say the same about my club!) its just the way in which agents obviously target Wigan as a club to take a chance on these foreign players before inevitably selling them as in Valencia, Palacios etc..must make Wigan almost a nursery club which demeans their existance in the Premier League a bit in my opinion. Saying that their fans are obviously happy enough so thats what counts at the end of the day!! For the record I enjoyed watching Wigan last season up until their season dissolved a bit after Christmas, good football and gave everyone a decent game unlike many who almost give up before they have started against the big 4."

"detritus- bcfc r not in debt!"

"The good thing about signings like this for Wigan is that the players they sign have to prove themselves if they want to go further in their careers, which means that they have to perform well, which in turn helps Wigan stay in the Premiership... (and compete I might add, they are not merely surviving) I think Wigan are a really well run club..."

"harviva you expect watford to buy stars, keep them, fend off the likes of man utd, and gradually make your way up the league till you win the title or something?"
Truelatic (Wigan Athletic fan)
"harviva - feeder club we may be - but it's earning a crust for our chairman whilst giving us entertainment and access to the premiership in the town. Whats the goal of any football team - entertain their supporters. As long as I am getting that and I am sure I will under Bobby I am happy. How is the championship at the moment ??? Few years since we were there !"

"its also very good business. we are the only PL team not up to our eyes in debt, we get some great players play good football. Its normal all the way through the leagues. at least these players want to come to Wigan and show off. makes it a fun place to watch football. to be fair we have also had a few non starters that ghost around the pitch."
PN_ManUtd (Manchester United fan)
"harviva - it happens all over the place...think Bayern are the worst...they even attempt to snap up the players from their rivals!"
dav1978 (Arsenal fan)
"harvivia - so whats wrong with that? Wigan obviously wont be able to attract the 'big' names, so have to look harder, and then when someone like Utd comes in for Valencia they can hardly turn down 16 million. They know what they have to do to survive in the premier league and they do it well. good luck to them. "
