Chelsea have hit back at suggestions they have left captain John Terry in the dark over transfer interest from Manchester City.
Reports have suggested that Terry is furious nobody at the club has spoken to him since City tabled a £30million bid last week.
The England skipper was reported as feeling 'betrayed and even unwanted' and it was even claimed the defender wanted showdown talks with the club's owner Roman Abramovich.
But Chelsea scoffed at suggestions there had been no dialogue with their club captain and insisted they had spoken to him recently about the situation.
They are also set to sit down and hold more talks with Terry when he returns from holiday on Thursday.
A Chelsea source said: "It is total nonsense to suggest that the club has not spoken to John Terry recently.
"We've spoken to him a number of times and we'll talk again when he gets back from holiday.
"He is well aware of our position that he is not for sale and he was pleased that both the club and the manager publicly took that position as we discussed it with him."
Terry takes home £20,000 a week less than his England team-mate Frank Lampard, who is on £150,000 a week but it is almost certain the club will offer him an improved deal.
Terry has played 272 games for Chelsea and scored 17 goals in 11 senior years at the club.
He joined Chelsea aged just 14 and led the club to its first league title for 50 years in 2004-5.
Both chief executive Peter Kenyon and new boss Carlo Ancelotti have said Terry is not for sale and now the club have made it clear he has been regularly consulted over recent events.
Chairman Bruce Buck cemented their position by adding: "As a Chelsea fan I'd be devastated if John left but that's not going to happen. John Terry is synonymous with Chelsea and Chelsea is synonymous with him.
"He has been here since he was a wee tot, he is captain of the club and captain of England. He is the backbone of our team and is not leaving."

"He's staying. He's acted with class and dignity, not like Gerrard who drew out a near move to Chelsea to the extent that Liverpools "Loyal" fans burned a Gerrard shirt outside their training ground."
