Portsmouth have completed the signing of Israel defender Tal Ben Haim from Manchester City on a four-year deal, subject to a work permit.
Ben Haim follows Benfica midfielder Hassan Yebda in joining Pompey on transfer deadline day, with Aston Villa left-back Nicky Shorey also set to sign on loan for the rest of the season.
Ben Haim, 27, told the club's official website: "I'm very happy to be here at Pompey. It's a big challenge... but I'm ready for it.
"I want to help Pompey get some good results and take them to the position they belong.
"I've come here to give 100% in each game and no less. I'm sure that's the same for all the lads."

""I want to help Pompey get some good results and take them to the position they belong." - Someone should tell this bloke that they are in the position they belong. Of course I jest but it is going to take some serious effort to get them out of the mess that they have made themselves."

"A very good player when he played at Bolton. Not sure he is the best influence in the dressing room though... "

"Very good signing. This fellow is a solid defender and will do a good job for Portsmouth.Hart has got a few good players towards the end."

"Portsmouth to go down? With Mokoena, Ben Haim, Brown. Except Krancjar and James, they do not have good players. They lost Defoe, Crouch and Johnson as well. Sorry to say this, but I think that they will go down this year."

"i think arsenal is the most solid team in the priemiership this season because arsene wenge set of boys has been togther for sometime and they are going to show the stuffs they made of at the end of the season,so every other team be warned.terris"

"I dare to say, against all popular beliefs, that Ben Haim wasn't a bad player for us. In fact, he started off really well for City but had one bad game which gave City supporters the reason to vilify him. The fact is that no one wanted him at City when Hughes signed him and he had a mountain to climb in order to impress us. He made a bad partership with Dunne because they're actually quite alike. He wasn't a bad defender at all, he was solid in general - certainly did not deserve the cr@p we dished out and he was in fact very solid for Bolton back in the days. In summary, not a bad buy."
