The 33-year-old, who joined Stoke on a free transfer following their promotion to the Premier League, is set to extend his stay for another two years.

"We've more or less agreed the contract," Sorensen told BBC Radio Stoke. "I just need to sign it.

"It's great that it's sorted out and I can focus on the future here at Stoke because it looks very bright."

Sorensen signed a three-year contract on his arrival from Aston Villa.

He will follow in the footsteps of midfielders Glenn Whelan, Liam Lawrence and striker Ricardo Fuller in signing new deals, while England Under-21 defender Ryan Shawcross is also in talks over a new contract with the Potters.

"Obviously you need to perform and give something to the club, but then at the same time it's nice to be rewarded," Sorensen added. "It's a good club and it shows that if you do well, you get the rewards for it."

"Stoke are a club which are going places. They are having a new training complex built, have signed some good players and are now getting key players signed up with contract extensions. Pullis is one of the best!"
