Benitez revealed as Prem worrier

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is one of the most worried managers in the Premier League, according to new research released on Friday.

Benitez: Has had tough start to season

Things have not exactly been going to plan for Benitez this season - the Reds have lost five of their 11 games in the Premier League and are on the brink of a Champions League exit - so it may come as little surprise to learn the Anfield chief is one of the most worried managers in the top flight.

Leading Aussie beer brand Foster's has analysed the statements from every Premier League manager since the beginning of the season using its Ozometer, an algorithm developed specifically to analyse language and word sequences to determine how worried or carefree a person is.

More than a thousand different quotes were assessed enabling Foster's to create a league table of the most and least worried football managers in the top flight.

Aston Villa's Martin O'Neill ranked as the least worried manager in the league - he was shown to have a 'No Worries' attitude in almost a quarter of his interviews - while under-pressure Hull City boss Phil Brown has been unveiled as the most worried.

Analysis of his interviews shows he is 30% more worried than O'Neill and was at his most fraught after the defeat to Burnley last weekend - a result that was reportedly set to cost him his job.

Bolton's Gary Megson and Birmingham's Alex McLeish join Brown in the bottom three, with Blackburn's Sam Allardyce, Everton's David Moyes and Benitez just above them.

Behind O'Neill at the top of the table are Chelsea's Carlo Ancelotti, Arsenal's Arsene Wenger, Tottenham's Harry Redknapp and Stoke's Tony Pulis.

Sports psychologist and former Sporting Partnerships presenter Dr David Lewis said: "Psychologically, worries are most likely to rise in situations where there is high pressure of us to succeed but uncertainty about whether we will do so.

"Therefore it is hardly surprising that managers like Benitez have been plagued by worries throughout the season. He should be careful not to fall into the common trap of denial - refusing to accept any problems exist when it is obvious to fans that they do.

"An optimistic approach to life would help him see opportunities where others see only setbacks, and to look forward with confidence."

Full table: O'Neill, Ancelotti, Wenger, Redknapp, Pulis, McCarthy, Hughes, Hodgson, Coyle, Martinez, Ferguson, Hart, Zola, Bruce, Benitez, Moyes, Allardyce, McLeish, Megson, Brown.

*The Foster's Ozometer is a clever bit of technology that analyses Twitter to show you the best and the worst of the Australian No Worries attitude in the UK.

It trawls tens of thousands of tweets every minute in search of ones that have a No Worries outlook and gives them a positive percentage score. Tweets that are more downbeat get a negative score.
