Reds stars won't be sold, vows Hicks

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has insisted no star players will be sold - but admits he "hoped things would be better on the pitch" at Anfield.

Hicks: Happy with the way things are going financially

The Reds are in the midst of a woeful run and lie seventh in the Premier League, nine points off leaders Chelsea, while they are also on the brink of an early exit from the Champions League.

Failure to reach the knockout stages would be a severe financial blow but Hicks is adamant the likes of Fernando Torres or Steven Gerrard will not be forced to leave Anfield because of cash pressures.

He told The Mirror: "None of our star players will be sold, regardless of results.

"The club is doing very well due to rapidly growing commercial revenues.

"We have significant investor interest and want to make sure that we pick high-quality partners.

"We are happy with the way things are going financially but we hoped things would be better on the pitch."

"Sack Rafa?? that wud be the most stupid thing to do at the moment. New manager new players...compensation to rafa etc etc..money money money. We are all disappointed with things around anfield at this time but we can not sack Rafa. Leeds and NUFC gotta know better. Rafa needs to get his head straight and start playing two fwds. Get Babel in there for the time being. Keep Carra on the bench for few weeks till he get his playing attitude right. Rest is okay. Theres no crisis the way ppl r putting it. Other teams are just trying to push pressure on the club..thats all. Benayoun is doing a good job. We just need one more striker to support Torres...

This is just my idea and how i look at the situation. I'm no coach etc etc, Hence you dudes who r still drinking milk from the bottle please please keep your opinion going and dont think u guys are Mourinho..keep facts straight."

"He should have spoken to his partner first, my sources say that LFC have accepted an 86 million euro bid from City in January. Nobody would pay serious money now for Gerrard. 30, injury prone, high wages, bar room brawl baggage."

"ibbyDon I suggest you keep an eye on your team we know we are having a disater of a season. How many times have you lost now. Three i think it was. Including a loss to our injury revenged. Personally I am more worried about Birmingham tonight. "

"wek1991 (Liverpool fan), where is that 40mil you talk about? I only seen players being signed with money from players being sold. Cisse and Bellamy sold to finance torres, xavi sold, johnson and aquilani brought in! where is this money you mention? 40mil would have secured better players and everyone knows it! Go get your facts right plonker!"

"ibbydon maybe it was when we beat manure 2-0 loser."

"ibbyDon (Manchester United fan) errr what? riena is the best keeper in the world, johnsons argubley the best right back in the league, agger is class, as is mascherano and benayoun too. we might not be doing great this season, but dont forget the beat down we gave the manure scum.....hahaha!"

egil15 (Fulham fan)

"Reds stars won't be sold? So why did you sell Alonso then??? Yes, Rafa is most responsible, but the money that was promised, never came... Liverpool will never get the title with this squad. At least 3 world class players like torres and gerrard is missing..."
