Gattuso agent rejects City link

Gennaro Gattuso's agent has played down talk linking the Italy and AC Milan midfielder with a move to Manchester City.

Gattuso: Linked with Manchester City

Reports emerging on Wednesday morning claimed big-spending City were lining up a January swoop for Gattuso.

The tough-tackling Azzurri star is reported to be unhappy at Milan under new coach Leonardo, with a suggestion City could offer him an escape route out of the San Siro.

However Gattuso's representative Andrea D'Amico insists he has not heard anything from City and that the 31-year-old has no problem at Milan.

"There is no truth in the Manchester City link," D'Amico told skysports.com.

"I have had no contact with Manchester City at this moment.

"Gennaro is coming back from injury and he is okay at Milan."

Gattuso began his career at Perugia and spent 15 months at Rangers before a £4million move back to Italy with Salernitana in 1998.

The following year, he was signed by Milan for around £8million. He recently made his 400th appearance for the Rossoneri.

"A player with so many serie A titles and 2 or 3 ECC titles joining city? Would you go from historically second best club in the world with a big tradition to some Manchester that doesn't even end with United... I don't think so not everyone is playing football for money, some play it for pride and because they love their game."
