Lamps applauds Cole, Drog and Nic

Frank Lampard has named Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka as the three players who have helped Chelsea impress this season.

Carlo Ancelotti's side top the Premier League table and have booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

And Lampard is particularly impressed by the efforts of England international left-back Cole and strikers Drogba and Anelka.

The England midfielder told his club's official website: "Ashley has shown it for a long time.

"For me, for the last two years he has been completely out on his own as the best left-back in the world.

"I don't know when people will learn that booing him is not the way to do it. It obviously spurs him on to put in performances like he did."

As for Drogba, Lampard said: "Didier is so strong and his all-round game is brilliant, when he plays his best I don't think there is anyone to match him.

"And I want to talk about [Nicolas] Anelka as well, because he is right up there with him. We have the best strikers in the world.

"When you have those men up front who are organised like we have, their partnership is absolutely formidable.

"When you are playing well and a lot of big players are fit and playing well then you go to games with a winning belief."

However, despite their five-point advantage at the top of the Premier League, Lampard is not thinking of the title just yet.

He added: "It's far too early to be over. We have seen teams take points off everybody else this season.

"It's great for us to be in the driving seat but, for instance, if Arsenal win their game in hand then they close the gap.

"People make huge deals about your record against the big teams but if you do win the games in between them then you stay up there regardless.

"You can always understand losing against teams like Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, because they have so much quality.

"We did it last year, we lost lots of points against the big teams, but it was the points against the not-so-big teams that made the difference.

"To be champions you have to get a mix, you can get the results against the big boys but all the games in between you have to keep the right attitude."

"shakermaker(Stoke fan)...if only could've would've and should've...yeah yeah we've heard it all before,we can only play against what's put in front of us.Man.U without Ronaldo,L'pool's long injury list,Arsenal's van Persie crocked etc etc...so what?...not our fault or our problem"

shakermaker (Stoke City fan)

"Chelsea - you will win the title this seson, but surely you can feel no satisfaction in beating a Man Utd team without Ronaldo in it and where the £80M is yet to be spent, or a Liverpool side decimated by injuries.

You are not earning this title. It's being handed to you on a plate."

"Try initially United had been out building everyone before Roman came along...managing debt like demons with the consequences off going into liquidation through mismanagement. Outspending occured when we began to dominate and our fans that drove us to the top deserved to watch the world beaters that were attracted to the club and the manager...and the prices we paid are due to overpricing coz of who we were...remember more often than not we don't buy champions...we make them. Hard back breaking labour taking that final step up was it? Remember...not having a pile of cash generally equates to not winning trophies...take a look at the large majority of sides in the world. Does your threat of crumbling when Roman becomes bored equate our threat of going under through mismangement of our own debt? Or is your non-threat as much of a non-threat as Real Madrid going under with the inevitable backing of the government in times of trouble? Nice one. "

"i apologize for a dumb fan in fonz0809, please don't think all of us are that prejudiced. Hats off to chelsea, for me cole, clichy and evra are the 3 greatest, drog, torres and adebay9or are the 3 target men, u've got a great team =)"

"What is this obsession the English have with always claiming to have 'The Best'?!! If it's not Beckham being the best crosser, it's Ashley Cole being the best left back. Personally, I'll have Evra every day of the week, and twice on Sundays!"

"Fonz0809 (Manchester United fan) - Change the record will you? United had been outspending every other Premier League club for years before Abramovich came along, all he did was put us on a level playing field with United. Since then, all honours have been earned by the players and management of the club. A big pile of cash doesn't necessarily equate to trophies, just look at Liverpool, Newcastle and Leeds."

"Fonz0809 (Manchester United fan) what?? what's disgusting and ungreatful about this article?

as you say haroon spot on frankie keep it up son"

Fonz0809 (Manchester United fan)

"Surely Roman is the first name on the teamsheet when handing out applause...disgusting and ungrateful."

"Spot on as always Frank."
