No rush for new faces - Ward

Carlisle boss John Ward insists he will not make a big-money signing simply to convince doubters about the ambition of the club's new owners.

Keiren Westwood's recent departure and the possibility of Joe Garner leaving for Nottingham Forest has prompted sections of the club's support to demand a new signing.

However, Ward told the Carlisle News & Star: "There is no stipulation that we have got to buy a player.

"Look at the four players I brought in in January - we only paid a fee for one of them but the three free transfers were certainly good signings.

"People will find the two players I've brought in on Bosmans this summer are good players. It doesn't always follow that we have to spend money to get players who are as good.

"We will only do something if it's right."
