Matthew Amoah and substitute Csaba Feher netted in the second half to earn the visitors the win on Sunday following a 1-1 draw in the first meeting in Breda on Thursday.

The first half was a cagey affair with midfields dominant and chances few and far between.

Groningen mustered the first opportunity in the 16th minute when Sepp De Roover crossed for Marcus Berg, but NAC goalkeeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar - diving to his left - was equal to it.

Three minutes later a mistake by Luciano da Silva presented the ball at the feet of Tim Gilissen, but the Groningen goalkeeper atoned for his error by tipping the midfielder's 25-yard effort over the bar.

The second period continued in the same vein until the deadlock was broken just after the hour mark.

Joonas Kolkka broke down the right and delivered a pinpoint cross to the far post where Amoah's downward header gave Da Silva no chance.

Groningen remained in the match looking for the equaliser which would have taken the tie to a decider, but had the wind knocked out of their sails by a second NAC goal on the counterattack four minutes from time.

Da Silva managed to block Patrick Mtiliga's shot from the edge of the box but it fell to Feher, who slotted home a right-footed shot on the rebound.
