Real Madrid fans look set to see Cristiano Ronaldo close-up in the Spaniards' Peace Cup debut against Al-Ittihad at the Bernabeu on Sunday.
Ronaldo, who has never played at the Bernabeu before, has been named in a 20-man squad for the match along with fellow summer signings Karim Benzema and Esteban Granero.
A crowd of around 80,000 turned up to watch Ronaldo's presentation but, with the Portugal international's first appearance for Madrid coming in Monday's friendly against Shamrock Rovers in Ireland, most Madridistas will have been waiting for this weekend to see the world's most expensive player in action.
Sunday's game is therefore set to be a special occasion for all of Madrid's newcomers, as well as the supporters, who will be hoping to see signs of what returning president Florentino Perez promised would be a "spectacular sporting project" during his election campaign.
However, while it will also be his first game in charge of the Spanish giants at the Bernabeu, new coach Manuel Pellegrini is determined not to lose sight of the bigger picture, which is to use the Peace Cup matches to continue building for the coming season.
"It is always important to make your debut at the Bernabeu but I don't think that the presence of either Ronaldo, or Benzema, or what tactical system we use, will change the fact that this is just another step in our preparations for the coming season," said Pellegrini, who replaced Juande Ramos in the Madrid hotseat this summer.
"There's no doubt that all the games are important but the number one priority is to prepare the team for the season.
"In friendly matches the priority cannot be the results because they are games designed to prepare the squad for the official competitions.
"What we saw in Ireland is different to what we will see tomorrow and what we will see on Tuesday (against Liga de Quito).
"Tomorrow there will only be five changes, the majority of the players will play between 60 and 70 minutes.
"We will try to do our best in the competition and try to win it, but we are not going to change our plans for this tournament."
Aside from Ronaldo, Benzema and Granero, Pellegrini has also included fellow newcomers Alvaro Negredo and Ezequiel Garay, but there are a number of players missing.
New signings Kaka and Raul Albiol are still on holiday due to their commitments at the Confederations Cup this summer, the same as Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos, while Pepe, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mahamadou Diarra are not fit.
Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who looks set to leave the club, has also been left out by Madrid, who play Liga de Quito in their second Peace Cup match on Tuesday.
Liga de Quito are currently top of the three-team Group C after beating Al-Ittihad 3-1 last night.
