Jamie Clarke opened the scoring for Accrington when Danny Seaborne played him onside and the nippy striker cut in from the right before firing a low shot past Paul Jones and into the corner.

Matt Gill then levelled when a long throw was flicked on by Richard Logan and the Exeter midfielder gambled at the far post to flick the ball past Kenny Arthur before Ben Watson dinked a superb finish over Arthur.

"John and I are both winners and we need to instil some of that winning mentality into the players," said Bell.

"The ball was coming back off the front men too cheaply in the first half and that was a big factor as to how the game was played. We have a very thin squad and we didn't have much on the bench.

"We knew that their right-back likes to bomb on, so we knew there would be some holes in that area and we got in five or six times in that area. We got in on that area and we could have scored a few more goals."
