Andy Hessenthaler has accepted the offer of a director of football role at Gillingham, just eight days after stepping down as manager.
Hessenthaler will join the board at Priestfield, overseeing all football matters including scouting and player recruitment.
The 46-year-old stood down from what was his second spell in charge of the Kent club last week after failing to secure at least a play-off place.
But chairman Paul Scally was keen to keep hold of Hessenthaler's experience and offered him a new role.
