Grimsby manager Neil Woods hopes Jamie Devitt will be back in contention for the visit of Northampton in League Two on Good Friday night.
The on-loan Hull midfielder missed last weekend's 4-1 defeat at league leaders Rochdale with a calf problem but he resumed training on Thursday.
Forwards Ashley Chambers and Tommy Wright are carrying knocks but are expected to train on Friday. Woods will make a late decision on their fitness.
Paul Linwood is the only player definitely out. The defender has an ankle injury but it is hoped he could come back into the reckoning for the trip to Accrington on Monday.
Woods wants a response from his players following the heavy defeat at Spotland and he said: "We wouldn't have been anybody that day. Some people have tried to make excuses by saying we played the team at the top of the league, but those people are from outside the club. We haven't made any excuses.
"Only two or three players could take any credit at all from their performance last week and I expect much better on Friday. Northampton a massive game because we can narrow the gap between ourselves and Cheltenham. It might only be for 24 hours but that can be a big boost."
