Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon was content with a draw against Aberdeen that moved his side a point clear of Dunfermline at the foot of the SPL.
It could have been more for the capital club, but Dons goalkeeper Jason Brown saved well from Isaiah Osbourne after 25 minutes and Hibs had appeals for a penalty turned down midway through the second half after the ball appeared to hit Dons defender Andrew Considine on the arm.
After seven losses from the previous 12 home league matches this term and one win in the SPL at Easter Road since last February - September's defeat of St Johnstone - Fenlon was satisfied his side followed up the 1-0 Scottish Cup win over Kilmarnock with another strong defensive display.
Fenlon said: "We were a little bit disappointed we didn't pick up the three points, but we were pleased with a lot of it as well.
"There were some good performances and again we were defensively solid, which was a big plus for us, with two clean sheets in a row, which hasn't happened in a while."
Fenlon handed Jorge Claros his debut in midfield, the Honduran adding much-needed bite after finally being given clearance to play after paperwork over his move was completed.
Fenlon added: "He hasn't done a lot with us, his English is not brilliant, but I think he will get better.
"As the game wore on he got better today. I think he started a bit sluggish but got to the pace of it. He's going to be a tidy player for us."
Claros was Hibs' latest new player to feature, after numerous changes were made by Fenlon during last month's transfer window.
Fenlon recognised there is room for improvement, but was pleased with the current level of progress from his new-look team.
He said: "They're working hard for each other. A lot of them have come in to prove a point and to kick on their careers.
"They're gelling as a group."
As for the penalty claim, Fenlon was unsure despite his players insisting the ball had struck Considine.
He said: "It happened so quickly. It's difficult for me to say."
Aberdeen's 1-0 win over Hibs at Pittodrie on December 17 was part of a run of four wins and four draws in nine league games prior to today's contest which propelled them away from relegation danger.
It was form Hibs are looking to replicate - something Dons boss Craig Brown believes they are more than capable of doing.
Brown said: "I think Hibs could go on a run. What I saw there is sufficient evidence.
"Hibs are capable of going unbeaten until the end of the season if they dig in like that and you know (striker Garry) O'Connor will score a goal."
The result saw Aberdeen, who play Queen of the South in a cup replay on Tuesday night, slip outside the top six and Brown's injury-depleted squad was hit further with Clark Robertson twisting a knee.
The former Scotland manager believes one goal would have been enough to decide the match.
Brown added: "There would have been a lap of honour if someone had scored a goal.
"When (Mitchel) Megginson hit one across the face of the goal, I could've run from the dugout and headed it in, as I said to (Scott) Vernon."
