Bournemouth have completed the signing of winger Donal McDermott from Huddersfield for an undisclosed fee.

McDermott has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Cherries after falling out of favour at the Galpharm Stadium.

The 22-year-old spent a period of time on loan at Dean Court last season, making 11 appearances and scoring twice as Bournemouth reached the npower League One play-offs.

Cherries director Tom Mitchell is delighted to have captured McDermott on a permanent basis, telling the club's official website: "We saw what a good player Donal is when he was with us last season, and we believe he will become an important player for us.

"He's one of the most exciting wingers in the league and we are delighted to have secured his signature.

"We have worked hard to support Lee (Bradbury, Bournemouth manager) over the last few weeks and we are pleased with the business we have done. We have built a young and strong squad and can look forward to an exciting few months between now and the end of the season."
