Huddersfield skipper Peter Clarke is expected to make a speedy recovery from his double hernia operation.

Clarke, scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, has missed Town's last two matches and will be sidelined for a further three to four weeks, according to manager Lee Clark.

"In today's terms it's not a big procedure, they're quite common procedures in modern day football," Clark told the club's official website.

"Knowing Peter as I do, I imagine he will be back in three or four weeks and with the situation with the Stevenage game he could only miss three or four games.

"We could have kept Peter playing by giving him jabs, but he would need the procedure eventually and further down the line there was a chance he could miss five or six games and so we feel this is the best time to do it."

Clarke's team-mate Gary Roberts is making rapid progress having had the same operation at the end of last month.
