Hunt: Terriers can't sit back

Jack Hunt insists Huddersfield will not sit on their 2-0 lead when they host MK Dons in Tuesday's League One play-off semi-final second leg.

The Terriers took firm control of the tie thanks to a comfortable first-leg victory at stadium:mk against a below-par Dons side on Saturday.

Jordan Rhodes' header, his 39th goal of the season, set the visitors on their way shortly after the half-hour mark before full-back Hunt chipped in with his first goal in almost eight months after the break.

And Hunt insists Town will remain focused on the job in hand at the Galpharm Stadium as they look to book a Wembley showdown with either Sheffield United or Stevenage on May 26.

"The two-goal cushion is nice but we're not going to sit back on Tuesday night, we're going to take it right to them," he said.

"We'll work hard in training on Monday and try to do what we did here.

"I'm sure the manager and all the lads in the changing room will keep everyone's feet on the ground and make sure we do a good job.

"Outsiders might be talking about a possible final now but we are fully focused on getting a result on Tuesday."

There is no doubt Huddersfield are favourites to progress in what is their third successive attempt at play-off glory.

It was a dreadful afternoon for MK Dons, who themselves are embarking on their third play-off campaign in four years as they bid to make the second tier for the first time since their change of identity in 2004.

But captain Dean Lewington is refusing to give up hope of completing a remarkable comeback.

"We're still confident we can turn our fortunes around," he said.

"The fans should have absolutely no worries about the boys being up for it on Tuesday. It's do or die for us, we know we have to win."

Dons manager Karl Robinson shared the same stance as his skipper and at least had some reason for optimism after Saturday's defeat.

"That's not us at our best and that's one of the best performances I've seen them play," Robinson said.

"We just didn't perform, it wasn't a lack of effort, we definitely tried to get in their faces.

"But I've seen weaknesses that I know we can capitalise on.

"We know we've not done ourselves justice and it's time for us to stand up and be counted, and I know they will. We know we can go there and turn this around."
