Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle has condemned the pitch invasion at the Galpharm Stadium, where MK Dons striker Alan Smith was accosted.

The club will review the pitch invasion that followed Tuesday's second leg of their League One play-off semi-final against MK Dons.

Smith was allegedly attacked by home fans after the 2-1 defeat, which saw the Terriers progress to the Wembley play-off final thanks to a 3-2 aggregate win.

In a statement on the club's official website, chairman Dean Hoyle said: "Last night (Tuesday) was a great occasion for everyone involved at the club.

"It is upsetting that the tremendous achievement in reaching the final has been tarnished. It goes without saying we will look very closely at what occurred.

"I am not going to prejudice the outcome but, as chairman of the club, I unequivocally condemn the actions of any so-called supporter who engages in any form of anti-social or violent behaviour.

"There is no place for them being connected with our club in any way, shape or form - full stop. We have imposed life bans before and if required will do so again."
