Hull will hold a minute's silence ahead of the Bristol City home game as a mark of respect following last week's Egyptian football tragedy.

Rioting at the Egyptian Premier League game between Al-Masry and Al-Ahly in Port Said on Wednesday resulted in 74 people killed and more than 1,000 injured and both sets of players will wear black armbands.

A club statement read: "Our club has very strong and very obvious connections to Egypt, and to the Al-Ahly club in particular with whom our chairman, Dr Assem Allam, has had strong links in the past."

Tigers chairman and owner Allam, born in Egypt, added: "I would like to offer my sincere and personal condolences to the families of those innocent people who lost their lives in this most disturbing incident.

"To see pictures of such extreme violence taking place at a football match in my home country was very upsetting for me and my family and my thoughts are very much with those affected."

Allam will also invite the Al-Ahly club to the KC Stadium for a game at the end of the season in a bid to raise funds for the victims' families.
