To quote Wenger, this is just like a ‘new signing’. A player already on the books, who offers something none of us thought was possible. Its just like Bellerin and Coquelin of last year. Campbell has stepped up and is every bit worth staying at Arsenal. Its not just that he is surviving and putting in par performances, he is excelling and making himself a valuable member of the squad.

He needs a new contract, to lose him for nothing in 6 months time would be a disaster.

Not sure I would go as far to compare to Coq as he is not undropable. He has made huge leaps and what he is better at that ox or Theo is he defends better. He works back really well so he is a better option in away games. His final ball needs work but they all do but his has been improving and good in the last few weeks. If he becomes a genuine goal threat with 15 plus goals a year he could be outstanding. Of course a new contract is a must regardless of whether he stays in the team we can’t loose him for nothing as he is worth a few million.

Similar to Coquelin, although not quite the same comparison because Coquelin seems to be irreplaceable at the moment and Campbell is not.

I recall many Gooners panicking at this point of Coquelin’s contract too. Does anybody here seriously or even remotely think that Wenger will watch a player like Campbell go just like that?

There are many things we can worry about as Arsenal fans but Campbell not being given a new contract is not one of them.

What Joel cambell has offered this season is what a very good squad player offers.
He’s put in some good shifts in most of the games not all of them. The talent was always there as seen for costa rica at the world cup and his loan moves as well.So it’s not surprising to see it again at Arsenal. But I still don’t see him as good enough to be in the first team, and he’s certainly not our coquelin this season.Like someone mentioned Coquelin is irreplaceable but Cambell is very much replaceable.

I agree specailone, at the mo he is nothing but a GOOD squad member and there is nothing wrong with that as we need a strong squad but for me he is not an automatic first choice if all are fit
