Simon Grayson was left to rue an indifferent performance from his side as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Walsall.

The Saddlers secured their League One safety after a second-half goal from Belgian midfielder Florent Cuvelier, on loan from Stoke and making his final appearance, wiped out a second-minute strike from Lee Novak.

It leaves the Terriers two points behind fourth-placed MK Dons and Grayson wants his charges to finish the campaign with a home win over Yeovil next weekend.

He said: "It was a contrasting performance. In the first half we were very good and the game could have been over at half-time.

"If we had got the second goal it probably would have been, but in the second half we started a bit sloppy and gave them a chance to get back into it and we were under the cosh. All credit to Walsall for pegging us back. We didn't expect them to lie down."

Asked why he left top scorer Jordan Rhodes on the bench, Grayson replied: "He has had a long season and looked a bit jaded over the last couple of weeks, so I decided to give him a breather."
