Skipper Andy Butler has urged Walsall's out-of-contract players to pen new deals at the club as they aim for greater things next season.
The Saddlers survived a second successive relegation scrap this term to preserve their place in League One and Butler wants to maintain the strong character within the dressing room.
Six players have been released by manager Dean Smith but Manny Smith, Mat Sadler, Emmanuel Ledesma, Alex Nicholls, David Grof, Richard Taundry, Darryl Westlake, Lee Beevers and Jake Jones have all been offered fresh terms.
And Butler told the Express & Star: "It's one of the best team spirits I've worked with in my career so I'd love everyone to stay. With a few more additions we could be a good side. You look at the fine lines, a few less draws and a few more wins and you're around the top six.
"I'd like everyone to stay and then hopefully we can push on after a couple of years of relegation battles.
"It will be better next year. We seemed to play well against the bigger clubs - we upped our game. Hopefully this experience will teach players you've got to give everything, all you can, every day. You've got to do your best every single second in training."
