Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore has not ruled out the possibility of signing Francis Jeffers after the striker turned up at training this week.
Jeffers, 31, began pre-season with Rovers after being released by Australian A-League side Newcastle Jets in April.
"John McMahon knows him since he was a kid at Everton.
"He wants to keep himself fit and ticking over so John asked if he could come in and I said yes. You never know, sometimes things can develop from there," Moore told the club's official website.
