Brentford boss Uwe Rosler is hoping the club's youngsters will step up to the plate after a spate of injuries at Griffin Park.

The Bees have lost Farid El Alagui and Kevin O'Connor to long-term injuries while Tom Adeyemi, Leon Legge and Jimmy Spencer also missed Saturday's 2-1 win against Carlisle.

Rosler is scouring the loan market for reinforcements but, having named development squad members Antonio German, Emmanuel Oyeleke and Aaron Pierre on the bench against Carlisle, he admits the youngsters have a chance to stake their claims for places in the team.

"That is Brentford," he said. "That is the way we want to go and the way we have to go. We have a small squad so the door is open for a young player to come in.

"We have development squad players on our bench and, God willing, they will get chances. Maybe new stars will be born. Nobody expects it but they have a great chance.

"We have to bring in one, maybe two players. We are short at centre-back and with cover at right-back."
