Wilson: Felt Blades deserved penalty

Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson described the 3-3 draw at home to Crewe as "a neutral's delight" but criticized the referee.

Nick Blackman struck the equaliser for the Blades in the 51st minute of Tuesday night's League One clash at Bramall Lane after Crewe had come back from two goals down to lead 3-2.

Shaun Miller's fortuitous finish and Harry Maguire's free header put the Blades in control after half an hour, but Crewe raced back and turned the game around with goals from Mark Ellis, Mathias Pogba and Chuks Aneke and Fulham-loanee Lauri Dalla Valle almost won it for the visitors before both sides were denied decent penalty claims.

Wilson said: "We feel we should have had a penalty and the DVD suggested it was a penalty, but we didn't get it so we're talking about something that's hypothetical really so we move on.

"Some strange decisions in the game I have to say, but the one thing the referee didn't do was defend for us and that's where our concern is more than anything."

Wilson added: "They could have won it, we could have, they could have won it, we could have. It was one of those games. It was a neutral's delight quite honestly. We didn't perform like we have been doing and made some bad decisions at times, but I'm not going to criticise them because it's the first time we've looked vulnerable defensively this season."
