Shrewsbury will check on the fitness of Tom Eaves ahead of the visit of Crawley.

The Bolton loanee missed Saturday’s home defeat to Bristol City after injuring his hamstring the week before and it is unclear whether he will recover in time for Tuesday’s clash.

Midfielders Luke Summerfield and Aaron Wildig have both spent recent weeks on the sidelines with thigh injuries but are nearing full-fitness as the end of season run-in approaches.

Yeovil loanee Sam Foley made his debut in the 3-2 loss at the weekend and should continue in the heart of the Shrews midfield as they look to secure a first home win since November.

Crawley skipper Josh Simpson is back in the squad for the trip to Shrewsbury.

The midfielder missed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Gillingham to be at the birth of his son, who arrived less than an hour before kick-off.

Boss John Gregory has no new injury worries but could again make changes with the fixtures coming thick and fast, so the likes of Gary Dicker, Rory Fallon and Mark Connolly will also come into the reckoning.

The club have extended the loans of young Crystal Palace duo Sullay KaiKai and Hiram Boateng until April 5.

Shrewsbury are hopeful Joe Jacobson will be fit to face their promotion rivals Crawley on Monday.

The left-back hobbled out of the 2-1 midweek defeat at Swindon after an hour nursing a groin injury, but he will be given as much time as possible to prove his fitness.

Should he fail to make it then fit-again defender Shane Cansdell-Sherriff, who replaced Jacobson at the County Ground, will start.

Striker Tom Bradshaw, who has been on the periphery of late, misses the game having been called up for international duty with Wales’ Under-21 squad.

Otherwise, manager Graham Turner is not expected to have any further selection concerns.

Meanwhile, Hope Akpan should be fit for Crawley. The former Everton youngster came off as a precaution during Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with Morecambe after sustaining an ankle knock but is expected to be available.

Akpan had started in midfield after Kyle McFadzean switched to right-back following an injury to David Hunt.

Hunt suffered a broken foot in the challenge which saw Rory Delap sent off – a decision that was later overturned – during Stoke’s 2-0 FA Cup win on Saturday.

Scott Shearer has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury so Watford loanee Rene Gilmartin continues in goal.

On-loan Millwall striker Shaun Batt will push to make his debut.
