Gillingham v Sheff Utd preview

Gillingham’s latest loan signing Ryan Inniss could make his debut for the club against Sheffield United.

The Crystal Palace teenager arrived on loan on Friday until the end of the season and is hoping to feature.

Defender Elliot Hewitt is available again following his one-game ban and midfielder Chris Whelpdale is expected to return to contention after missing the last six games due to a knee injury.

The Gills, without a game at the weekend, have won their last three home league games and are bidding for back-to-back league wins for only the second time this season.

Sheffield United trio Billy Paynter, Elliott Whitehouse and Callum McFadzean will all return to contention for the game at Gillingham.

On-loan Doncaster striker Paynter and midfield pair Whitehouse and McFadzean were ineligible for Sunday’s FA Cup win against Nottingham Forest.

Manager Nigel Clough has no new injury or suspension problems, but could be tempted to rest one or two players, with striker Chris Porter hoping for a recall after stepping off the bench to score twice against Forest.

Fellow forward Shaun Miller, an unused substitute at the weekend, is also hoping to feature as the Blades chase a third straight home win.
