Lita earns Barnsley point

Leroy Lita scored the crucial second equaliser in controversial fashion two minutes after the referee’s initial allocation of two minutes’ first-half injury time.

The opener came after just three minutes when Lewin Nyatanga’s mistake was punished by Josh McQuoid, who netted his first goal for City with a calm finish from eight-yards out.

Conor Hourihane then bent in a superb free-kick on the half-hour mark from 20 yards to equalise.

But the Sky Blues retook the advantage when Jim O’Brien’s cross was met by Reda Johnson, and his touch fell to Jordan Clarke who volleyed in from five yards after 43 minutes.

The Tykes secured their point moments before the break, though, when a defensive mix-up allowed Leroy Lita to head his first goal for Barnsley from two yards.

The Sky Blues could have snatched a second-half winner but O’Brien poked the ball wide when well placed in the six-yard box.
