Walsall able to grab Cain

The midfielder comes in after defender Andy Butler’s loan deal from Sheffield United expired and he returned to Bramall Lane.

Cain, who started his career at Luton, stands by to make his debut in the Saddlers’ Sky Bet League One trip to Crawley on Tuesday night.

“It’s an opportunity for me to play regular football at a good level, so I’m relishing the challenge,” he told the club’s official site.

“I’d like to think that I will bring an attacking dynamic to the team; I like to get forward and get shots on goal.

“Walsall are renowned as a passing team and I feel that I will fit perfectly into that as it is how I have been brought up in the game.

“I’ve already trained here over the past few weeks and it’s one of the best atmospheres that I have ever experienced in football. The players and staff are a close-knit group and they have made me feel extremely welcome.”

Former Saddlers captain Butler has linked up again with parent club United after spending a month at the Banks’s Stadium.

He had only left Walsall in the summer to join the Blades but found himself out of favour under boss Nigel Clough.
