Gillingham v Barnsley preview

admin

Gillingham could welcome back Aaron Morris and Amine Linganzi when they welcome Barnsley.

Morris made his comeback from a hamstring injury by playing for an hour for the club’s development squad in midweek, while Linganzi (also hamstring) had a 45-minute run out in the same fixture.

Josh Pritchard, who was a late substitute in the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Yeovil on his way back from a calf problem, also stepped up his comeback as he played the full 90 as Gillingham’s second string beat their Bournemouth counterparts 2-1.

Justin Edinburgh has yet to suffer defeat in his three games as Gills boss, with the club’s unbeaten run currently standing at eight.

Barnsley will be without suspended defender Jean Yves Mvoto in new head coach Lee Johnson’s first game in charge.

Centre-half Mvoto sits out a one-game ban after his dismissal for two yellow cards in the midweek win at Scunthorpe and teenager Mason Holgate is vying with Peter Ramage to replace him.

Striker Sam Winnall is hoping to be included in former Oldham boss Johnson’s first squad as he nurses his way back from a long-term hamstring problem.

Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull has missed the last two games due to a back injury and Adam Davies is likely to resume in goal.
