Jason Holt put the hosts in front just before the hour but they had to settle for a point following Billy Clarke’s equaliser late in the game.

Bradford made a bright start with Andy Halliday putting a first-time shot narrowly wide and then Clarke slipping a good ball through to James Hanson whose effort was saved by Mark Howard.

Clarke then produced a neat shot on the turn which forced Chris Basham to clear off the line.

Jamie Murphy sliced a shot wide from a good position before United took the lead when Michael Doyle had a shot blocked and the ball fell into the path of Holt, who found the back of the net from close range with 57 minutes on the clock.

After Bradford substitute Mark Yeates had a volley saved and a shot headed clear by John Brayford, Clarke equalised with a shot from the edge of the area with six minutes remaining.

Rory McArdle was sent-off in the 90th minute for the visitors after receiving a second yellow card.

A goal from substitute Jamal Campbell-Ryce in the second half cancelled out Jonathan Forte’s first-half strike.

Jose Baxter threatened for the hosts inside the first minute with a shot on the turn which was pushed wide by goalkeeper Paul Rachubka.

Oldham’s first chance of the game fell to Jabo Ibehre who put a shot straight at keeper Mark Howard.

United’s Jamie Murphy then saw his long-range effort deflected wide before the visitors took the lead.

Daniel Johnson’s superb ball into the area found Forte who slotted confidently past Howard after 16 minutes.

Johnson fired in a shot which just cleared the crossbar shortly afterwards, while at the other end Rachubka was forced to save a long-range drive from Bob Harris.

The equaliser came in the 63rd minute when Campbell-Ryce drilled in a low, angled shot from the right-hand side of the area and the ball found its way through a packed box to beat Rachubka.

Oldham had Ibehre sent off with three minutes remaining when he received a second yellow card.
