Pond: Life is exciting at Town

The 30-year-old will spend another season with Fleetwood, who he joined in 2003 when they were in the North West Counties League First Division and has won six promotions since then.

“I’m very happy to extend my stay at Fleetwood Town,” Pond told the club’s official website. “It’s going to be another exciting season for the club.

“Experience is key at any level and I will have to set an example to the younger lads in the squad. I’m looking forward to it.

“The likes of Tyler Forbes, Nick Haughton and Ash Hunter did tremendously well when they came in last season and even they can pass on their experiences to the lads coming through.

“It’s going to be a good season for the young lads, but they all need to continue to work hard in training and see how it goes.

“We’ve got the ability in the squad to perform and hopefully improve on last season.

“I want to just improve personally but also improve as a club, and see where it takes us.”
