Daryl Duffy has admitted Cheltenham's poor form of late has affected the confidence of the players as they push for promotion play-offs.

The Robins, who occupied an automatic promotion spot for much of the season, have won just one of their last nine matches to slip to sixth in the standings with four games remaining of the campaign.

And, although striker Duffy stressed a top-seven finish would still represent a superb term's work for the Whaddon Road side, he conceded confidence is running low at present.

"Confidence has been dented a little bit by the recent run. All of our performances haven't been bad apart from a couple. We have been a little bit inconsistent and it is something we are all desperate to put right," he said.

"We have been fantastic all season apart from the last month so just need to ride this the best we can and finish strongly for the rest of the season. It has not come at an ideal time but we have still got a few games left to turn it around and if we can secure a play-off place then I think that will be a great achievement for us this year.

"If you'd have offered anyone at the club a top seven place at the start of the season they would have snapped your hand off, but because we have been in the top three for the majority of the season then it is a bit disappointing not to get automatic but being in the play-offs would be a great achievement."
