Mark Yates is relishing the League Two play-off final showdown with Crewe after Cheltenham secured a 4-1 aggregate win over Torquay.
Robins captain Marlon Pack's brilliant 87th-minute free-kick sealed a 2-1 win on the night at Plainmoor after Gulls sub Taiwo Atieno had cancelled out Jermaine McGlashan's 75th-minute opener.
Having spent much of the first half on the back foot, Yates lavished praised on his players, who took control when the hosts ran out of steam after the interval.
"Torquay gave us some scares in the first half," said Yates.
"They were excellent but overall I think we deserved to go through and now we have got Crewe at Wembley to look forward to.
"We made it hard work for ourselves in the first half, Torquay were excellent.
"Scott Brown made some important saves for us and he has shown how he has improved as a keeper.
"I thought we took control of the game in the second half and people responded perfectly. Russ Penn came on and was back to his best.
"I think we deserved to go through but they can consider themselves unlucky in the first half that they have not reduced the deficit. They threw everything at us.
"It was a lovely goal by Jermaine, a fine finish to a fantastic move, and Marlon's goal was fantastic.
"I am proud of the whole club and all the supporters, especially those who have travelled down to be with us here. They have been fantastic and deserve their big day out at Wembley."
Cheltenham have now won five of their last six matches with the only defeat in that time coming against Crewe, who completed the league double over their final opponents with a 1-0 triumph at the Abbey Business Stadium last month.
Yates added: "Crewe have beaten us twice and will fancy their chances but it's exciting for us and we will let this sink in over the weekend and then do our homework on Crewe and it's back to work on Monday."
Torquay made it back-to-back failures in the play-offs, having lost last season's final to Stevenage at Old Trafford.
United manager Martin Ling said: "My feelings are pretty raw and I have told the players I am proud of every one of them.
"I feel we have had a right good go at it this season and it has just not come into fruition at the end.
"In the first half we have battered Cheltenham and done everything but score a goal and then second half we sort of died away.
"Over the two legs I felt that Cheltenham probably deserved their victory, but I think 4-1 is very harsh on us but it all comes down to decisive moments and putting the ball in the back of the net and they did it better than us.
"When we came in at half-time we had Kevin Nicholson's shot that came off the bar, their keeper has made great saves from (Mark) Ellis and (Ryan) Jarvis and one of their players has cleared it off the line from Ellis.
"There's four chances there and we had another two in the first leg, six gilt-edged chances in all and we hadn't scored and that makes you start to wonder when it is going to be your night."
