Mansfield v Bury preview

Junior Brown will miss out for Mansfield when promotion-chasing Bury visit the One Call Stadium.

The Stags feared the worst when Brown limped off with a hamstring injury at Cheltenham last weekend but scans have shown no serious damage and the winger could be back in action in less than a fortnight. Brighton loanee Jeffrey Monakana should replace Brown in the starting line-up.

That may be the only change made by Adam Murray, although strikers Matt Rhead and Rakish Bingham reminded the Mansfield manager of their availability with goals for the reserves this week.

Defender Michael Raynes also featured for the second string on his return from a hamstring injury and is now ready to return to the Stags squad.

Defender Adam El-Abd will miss out for Bury.

The centre-back must serve a one-match suspension following his dismissal against Oxford, so either Jim McNulty or Keil O’Brien will replace the loanee in the Shakers’ back four.

Striker Daniel Nardiello is still not ready to return from a hamstring problem, with boss David Flitcroft revealing his slight tear will keep him out of action for a second straight game.

However, the Shakers’ attacking options are boosted by Hallam Hope’s return to full fitness from a hip flexor injury.

Mansfield v Bury preview

Mansfield are expected to have an unchanged squad when they host Bury.

The Stags suffered no new injury problems against Fleetwood on Saturday and after seeing his side net a 1-0 win over the Cod Army, manager Paul Cox could stick with the same starting line-up on Tuesday night.

Should he wish to tweak things, Cox has the likes of Ross Dyer, Lee Beevers, Ben Hutchinson, Lindon Meikle, Jamie McGuire, Ollie Palmer and new signing Michael Cain available.

James Jennings (quad), Martin Riley (calf), Louis Briscoe (back) and Jake Speight (knee) remain on the sidelines.

David Flitcroft will have to replace full-back Frederic Veseli in his starting XI if Bury cannot extend his loan before Tuesday night’s clash with Mansfield.

The Shakers boss is keen for Veseli to extend his stay at the JD Stadium but needs to strike a deal with his parent club Ipswich after the current arrangement ended following Saturday’s 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon.

Midfielder Tom Soares has a knock and did not travel with the squad for the Dons clash while forward Ashley Grimes is still out because of a hamstring complaint.

Phil Picken, out since September 2012 because of knee problems, is hoping to play in forthcoming reserve games with a view to playing down the season’s stretch.
