Plymouth v Newport preview

Plymouth hope to make last-minute loan moves before Newport head to Home Park.

Boss John Sheridan lost Drew Talbot in the build-up to Tuesday’s defeat at Dagenham after Chesterfield recalled the 28-year-old and Sheridan will now look to add one or two loanees to his squad ahead of kick-off, a right midfielder and a pacey attacker.

That 2-0 loss to the Daggers means the Pilgrims have lost three of their last five League Two matches, a run which has seen them slip out of the play-off spots, and Sheridan could shuffle his pack in a bid to get back to winning ways.

Ryan Brunt and Jason Banton, regular substitutes in recent weeks, could be handed starts.

Newport make the trip to Devon without defender Regan Poole.

The 16-year-old, who is a regular in the squad and has made three appearances in 2015 for the Exiles, has been called into the Wales Under-17 squad for their clashes with Russia, Austria and Iceland, meaning he misses the Argyle clash as well as next week’s trip to Accrington.

Boss Jimmy Dack could name an unchanged line-up and stick with his 5-3-2 formation as they look to build on the 1-0 victory over Luton on Tuesday, their first home win since early January.

Mark Byrne missed out on that match due to injury and he will be assessed in the build up to kick-off.
