Plymouth could hand a debut to defender Gethin Jones when they welcome high-flying Burton.

The 19-year-old, who arrived on loan from Everton last week, missed the win at Cheltenham with Wales’ Under-21 squad but he hooked up with his team-mates on Wednesday and is available to feature.

Boss John Sheridan confirmed that striker Reuben Reid still continues to miss the odd day of training with a foot injury but he has no worries about the former Yeovil man’s fitness.

Argyle are two points clear in the final play-off place having seen off the Robins 3-0 last time out.

Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink could opt to freshen up his team following the draw with Stevenage.

Three loan signings are all still waiting for their debuts. Liverpool pair Jack Dunn and Kevin Stewart and Birmingham striker Denny Johnstone joined Albion last week but did not feature on Monday night – Dunn due to a slight injury.

Hasselbaink will hope his injury list clears over the Easter period, with Florent Cuvelier, Mickael Antoine-Curier, Stefan Maletic and Callum Reilly (all hamstring) and Kelvin Maynard all absent against Boro.

The league leaders will definitely travel without Robbie Weir as he completes a three-match suspension.

Jamie Reckord could return to the Plymouth side when they host Burton on Saturday.

The on-loan Wolves left-back returned to the matchday squad for the 1-1 draw with Torquay on Tuesday night after recovering from illness and could reclaim a starting berth after Durrell Berry played out of position against the Gulls.

Manager John Sheridan has no fresh injury worries as they look to close the gap on the Brewers to four points and extend their unbeaten run to nine games.

Their midweek draw at Plainmoor saw Reuben Reid net his fifth goal in three games and he will start upfront once more for the in-form Pilgrims.

Jimmy Phillips comes back into the reckoning for Burton.

Phillips served a one-match suspension in midweek as Albion overcame Mansfield 1-0 at the Pirelli Stadium. The winger is added to manager Gary Rowett’s squad in Devon along with new loan signing Benji Siegrist.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Siegrist will provide competition for Dean Lyness, who has kept clean sheets in each of his last two games since Jordan Pickford was recalled from his loan by Sunderland.

Veteran defender Rory Delap has resumed training after almost three months out with a hamstring injury but Saturday will come too soon for the 37-year-old, while striker Michael Symes (groin) will also remain on the sidelines.

Argyle will be without the suspended Conor Hourihane for the clash.

Midfielder Hourihane was dismissed late on in the 3-2 defeat at Crewe last weekend for a second bookable offence and sits out the first match of a two-game ban.

Paul Wotton goes straight into the squad after rejoining the club on an 18-month deal. The 34-year-old’s contract at Yeovil was cancelled by mutual consent earlier in the week, and he promptly signed on again at Home Park. Another new signing, midfielder Joe Lennox, is also available.

Meanwhile, Pilgrims manager Carl Fletcher remains hopeful striker Nick Chadwick will make his return to the first-team squad.

Chadwick, who hobbled off after just 15 minutes of Argyle’s 2-1 home defeat to Torquay in the Devon derby on January 2 with a hamstring complaint, missed the trip to Crewe but could feature this weekend.

The former Stockport forward may take the place of Craig Sutherland in the starting line-up, although youngster Matt Lecointe is pushing for a recall after coming off the bench to score at Crewe.

Meanwhile, Burton will continue to be without Billy Kee and Aaron Webster for the 480-mile round trip.

Top scorer Kee missed last week’s 2-0 home defeat to Accrington after aggravating a recurring groin injury and Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido believes he may be absent for the next couple of games.

That could give Calvin Zola and Justin Richards another chance up front, although Adi Yussuf will be hoping the pair drawing a blank last Friday will persuade Peschisolido to alternate his attacking options.

Full-back Webster was also absent for the loss against Stanley as he continues to recover from a groin complaint, but Andy Corbett’s return from suspension should help fill the void.

Nathan Stanton (shoulder) is Burton’s only other injury concern as they look for a first win in four matches to re-ignite their League Two promotion push.
