Morecambe midfielder Alex Kenyon begins a suspension as Burton visit the Globe Arena.

Kenyon was dismissed during last week’s abandonment at Accrington and now starts a three-match suspension.

There is further bad news in that department because Andy Fleming is expected to miss out with a knee injury he sustained at the Store First Stadium, with boss Jim Bentley unsure on just how serious the issue is at this stage.

Ryan Williams (hamstring) played for the reserves in midweek and could be included while Andy Parrish may return after missing time through illness. Winger Marcus Marshall misses out again with a hamstring problem while captain Mark Hughes will be assessed with a similar problem.

Burton boss Gary Rowett has a full squad to choose from for the trip to Morecambe, with the exception of striker Michael Symes.

The knee injury that has ruled out Symes in recent weeks will continue to do so, although Rowett has signed Gary Alexander and he will hope to be given his full debut after making his Brewers bow from the bench last weekend in the 1-1 home draw with Exeter.

Benji Siegrist has returned to Aston Villa at the end of his loan and Rowett intends to sign a goalkeeper to provide cover for Dean Lyness when the loan window opens on Saturday morning.

Should no signing take place, veteran Kevin Poole will probably again have to step onto the bench – but Albion are hopeful their 50-year-old goalkeeping coach will not be needed.

Morecambe will be without Kevin Ellison and Andy Parrish.

Veteran forward Ellison sits out the second game of a three-match ban for his red card at Cheltenham last Friday.

Defender Parrish has this week discovered he chipped a bone in his ankle during the same game that will leave him out for several weeks.

The Shrimps will also make a late fitness check on left-back Robbie Threlfall, who was forced to leave the field early on Tuesday night against Chesterfield with a dead leg.

Jim Bentley’s men won their first home game of the season in midweek and victory over the Brewers would be the first time six points out of six have been returned by the home side at the Globe Arena since February.

Burton will continue to monitor Calvin Zola.

Zola missed the 1-0 win at Southend on Tuesday night after a hamstring problem forced him off early in the second half of the 3-3 home draw against Northampton last weekend.

Billy Kee replaced Zola in the only expected change to Albion’s starting line-up at Roots Hall. He spearheaded the attack along with Matt Paterson, with Justin Richards returning to the bench.

Joint-leading scorer Zola will probably go straight back into the team should he be fit.

Defenders Aaron Webster and Nathan Stanton, midfielders Jack Dyer and Cleveland Taylor and strikers Adi Yussuf and Richards are options for manager Gary Rowett should he wish to make any further changes.

Sammy McIlroy will be without a trio of Shrimps players for the crunch home clash.

Paul Scott (knee), Paul Mullin (back) and Kieran Charnock (Achilles) are all sidelined as the Shrimps seek the win that would take them closer to safety.

Meanwhile, on-loan goalkeeper Joe Anyon returned to Lincoln this week.

The 24-year-old made four appearances during his month-long stay with the Shrimps but McIlroy’s first-choice goalkeeper Barry Roche recently returned to action after injury and will again line up between the posts.

The Shrimps have struggled for much of the campaign but eased their relegation fears with victory at Rotherham last weekend.

And McIlroy said: “If we can carry that spirit and determination into this weekend’s game we can look to move a huge step closer to safety.”

Brewers boss Paul Peschisolido is without the services of Ryan Austin and Paul Boertien.

The defenders look certain to miss Albion’s battle for Football League survival.

Austin snapped a tendon in his hand during the home defeat to relegation rivals Barnet last weekend and requires immediate surgery to avoid any long-lasting handicap.

Boertien is struggling to recover from the groin injury that has kept him out of the last six matches.

“It is touch and go whether either of them will play again this season, which is frustrating because we have only got eight games to play,” said Peschisolido.

Adam Bolder is likely to return to the squad after the former Derby midfielder was rested against Northampton in midweek but defender Nathan Stanton remains a doubt after suffering a recurrence of a troublesome groin injury.
