The versatile 20-year-old has the option of another year and becomes Carlisle’s 10th summer signing – with more new players set to arrive at Brunton Park.

Cumbrians’ head of recruitment Lee Dykes told the club’s official website: “It brings the number of signings up to 10, but we are still by no means done.

“We’re always looking to strengthen but the work that has been done so far has been exciting for us and I’m sure it will be exciting for the supporters as well.”

London-born McQueen progressed through Tottenham’s academy but failed to make the first-team breakthrough. He can operate in either full-back position as well as in midfield.

Dykes added: “He’s at a level now where he is ready to push on. We know what he can do and we know how we want him to play, so it’s up to him to deliver that for us.”
