Vardy ’80 per cent’ likely to reject Arsenal to stay at Leicester
Jamie Vardy is reportedly leaning towards rejecting a move to Arsenal in order to stay at Leicester.
The Evening Standard’s James Olley claims that sources in the England camp have leaked the news, with Vardy telling his international teammates that he ’80 per cent’ likely to stay.
Arsenal have met Vardy’s release clause and offered him £120,000 a week in wages over three years, with the option for an extra year.
The striker was expected to accept the offer but instead, the Standard claim that Vardy will sign a new contract at Leicester, worth around £100,000 a week – a £20,000-a-week raise on the deal he signed in February.
The 29-year-old is understood to have concerns over how regularly he would play at Arsenal, given he would have to battle with Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck for a starting spot.
