Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has his sights set on playing a role for Liverpool this month as the Reds bid for FA Cup and Carling Cup success.
The 19-year-old has had limited chances to impress since joining the club in May 2010 from Charlton, making a single Premier League start and scoring his only goal in last month's FA Cup victory over Oldham.
But Shelvey netted in a 4-0 reserve win over Norwich in front of manager Kenny Dalglish and is now hoping to be involved in this month's first-team fixtures - a league clash with Manchester United this weekend followed by an FA Cup clash with Brighton and the Carling Cup final against Cardiff.
The teenager told Liverpool's official website: "It was good to get out there and have a run out. It was a good performance and the scoreline showed that. I haven't played much recently, so it was good to show the boss what I can do.
"I want to try and play in the FA Cup and hopefully be a part of the (Carling Cup) final. That would be lovely and something I could tell my grandkids about when I have them in the future!
"I just want to keep pushing on in training every day and try to force my hand. Hopefully I can get a few starts and come off the bench."
