Obviously, in fairness, the new Liverpool Manager will be bound in having his own say in players and some undoubtedly wil be gone.

I don’t genuinely get Divock Origi being slammed for his existence when you consider Daniel Sturridge is forever injured and for me, angering me in dis-service; sick to the back teeth of it; how can these people be injured?

Get people in who WANT to play for Liverpool.

Pretty low to have a go at a players motivation when they are injured.
Sturridge would have played today had he been selected, he most likely would have wanted to play through an injury. But what’s the point in having a professional setup and a workable bench if we’re going to risk losing players for a season by allowing them to play through injury (especially early in the season). This is the correct way to manage a team, get your key striker as close as possible to full fitness and hope he goes on a good run.
We historically mismanaged Owen, Torres, Gerrard with regard to injuries, to our detriment.
Or perhaps your right, let’s have a go a Ings, Gomez, Flanagan. How dare they get injured, clearly they’ve no drive and ambition.

Why have we got a United poster on here?

No problem if you’ve come to talk about football, but if you’re only interested in your usual trolling then do one!

It was reported that Klopp wanted to sign Benteke, Firmino and Origi when he was still with Dortmund. As someone has mentioned here, Rodgers was probably warming the seat for Klopp this season.

I don’t get why he was voted as one of the worse players for his native.

He hit the bar yesterday, but would still prefer Origi as a wide man to supply (in future) to the ilk of Benteke and Ings, and Sturridge.

Read this article and surprised how quickly he’s been dismissed; some have gone as far as writing him off as the worse Liverpool striker and placed him on par with David Ngog.

Have they forgotten we had Milan Jovanovic?!

You might be sick to your back teeth of Sturridge having potentially career threatening amounts of injuries but I’m sure he’s a lot more sick of it than you. It seems that you actually dislike him for something he has little to potentially no control over.

As for Origi though, we’ll see. Maybe Klopp can motivate him and also give the lad some confidence along with the time he’ll get to play. . but from what I’ve seen so far, he’s certainly our 4th choice striker for me. That doesn’t mean that I’ve written him off but I do think that from what I’ve seen of him, he’s raw.

I’m not going to bother reading the dailymail “article”, I’m pushing it already by using that word. If they want to write him off then fine, they are morons and whatever they say about Football is irrelevant. All things said and done though, I’d much rather have Ings up there as he has those extra few years of development and for me is more of a natural goal-scorer.

What Origi needs is to score a few crucial goals to raise his confidence. I can also see him being played on the right to good effect in certain games.

However I am not convinced that he will become a top notch lethal striker, more like a good squad player, and am happy to be proved wrong. But if Klopp can increase his confidence and his ability, then I am all for it, as Liverpool wil benefit all round.

    Mr M,

we have to look at the bigger picture and the way things are looking in terms of our striking options, is there any wonder why the frustration arises everytime (and yet again) Daniel Sturridge’s name is added to the injury list.

It makes you wonder overall, whether he fits into the brackett of injury prone players in the examples of Darren Anderton, Owen Hargreaves, Abou Diaby…..

It’s come at a time too with Benteke awaiting for a return, and ings out.

Divock Origi effectively right now is flying the flag for us, yet he’s already been slated.

Klopp seemingly has given him encouragement and support and hopefully, he will be allowed more game time to show us what he’s about.

Origi seems like a prospect but I do not want him any where near the first team, he is too inexperienced, his runs and movement is off. He doesnt offer a goal threat but hey he is our fourth choice striker, he might be suitable in cup games working with a partner up front as he is a fairly decent target man.

Shame a relatively brand new player and a young one too is thrown in the deep end.

For what it’s worth, I initially thought he was another one of Rodgers’ duds, but having seen him used by Rodgers on both wings in one of the cup games, I was encouraged in how is was able to pick out Lallana.

He also came quite close to scoring too.

I do feel positive about Origi and I really hope he will be allowed the time to stick it out.

For what it’s worth, my opinion after watching Divock Origi this season, and in the last World Cup, is that he’s just too nice. By which I mean that he seems not to want to clash with a defender .. he seems to just give up the ball rather than make a challenge.

I think he lacks a certain degree of bravery – for instance at Spurs, after the ball hit the bar any other forward worth his salt would have ducked his head to nod in the rebound rather than try to control it on his chest.

I may be wrong, and it’s far too early to pass judgement, but time will tell.

    Kind thoughts on Origi, Derek.

Hope Origi features tomorrow and hopefully finds the net; would be a great boost of confidence going into Sunday’s game against the Saints.

From what I’ve seen on the highlights, I’m liking Origi more; he’s got it in him to lay the ball of to other players and make space for himself.

I’m really not sure how you like Origi more after last night. You were restricted to highlights for the match so I guess that’s part of it. For me, Origi only showed more of what I have come to know of the player, that he is nowhere near ready. Certainly as a lone striker anyway.

Yes, he has some game intelligence but he hasn’t got that killer instinct (yet). Origi was really not at the races though last night. That said neither were a number of players. Coutinho was awful. Benteke has an excuse for missing that sitter as he was just back but he then sharpened up soon enough and hit the post to give me the feeling that at least someone on the pitch could hit the ball somewhere that wasn’t horribly wide or directly at the keeper 😛

With Ings out for the season and Benteke and Sturridge being injury prone, I wonder if we need to sign a better 3rd choice like Shane Long (more an example than anything. .) or someone of that kind of quality.

Makaveli, I would take Kuyt in an instant right now. He is really enjoying his twilight years, recently rumored to be on his way to Barca as a third striker.

I thought Rodgers really made a mistake in letting him go. Especially because Rodgers wanted to play a high pressing system and there is not a forward that has a higher workrate than Kuyt.

Benteke is not injury prone, so let’s dispel that myth.
As of the summer there was only 1 striker in the Prem who had played more mins than him over the last 3 seasons and that was Lukaku. Rooney was level with mins played with Beneteke but I suspect he’s over taken him these last 2/3 weeks.

Not sure why there’s quietness in general surrounding what seems of somebody easily able to contribute; he should be played tomorrow even if it’s just a part.
