Delighted that he has been called up to the national team. Hopefully he doesn’t pick up any injuries. Does he remind anyone else of Craig Bellamy?

Really happy with Danny Ings and the way he’s settled into Liverpool.

He’s like a little Ian Rush 🙂 and obviously in a good way in finding the net!

Somebody on the main lfc forum called him ‘Suarez-lite’. I think that sums him up. He’s snappy, energetic and determined, with a good eye for goal. That’ll do for what we paid for him anyway.

I said he would not get 8-10 pl goals in the summer. He’s proving me wrong each week and is fast becoming a fans favourite. Needs to just keep going and take his chances.

This kid Danny Ings reminds me of John Aldridge. Hopefully he can keep growing as a player. Love his passion and am really encouraged by his partnership with Sturidge. He is making it hard for the manger to leave him out.

Great little player. Love his passion and determination but needs to compose himself a little more on occasion. Sounds odd this but he maybe trying to hard to impress which has occasionally affected his touch and/or finish. A consistent run of games certainly helps!

He has a bit more quality than I realised. Good attitude, and work rate.

    It looks promising for him.

Agree, Rob. But how does this work formation-wise if we have both Benteke and Sturridge back?

Al even if he does get dropped in favour of Benteke, there’s still the Europe and league cups that take up the midweek matches to start him. Plenty of them coming up as long as we stay in those comps. Also makes for a great sub in the league

Al, don’t know buddy. If Brendan goes 433 then a three pronged attack of Ings, Benteke and Sturridge could work but think Brendan will mostly perm 2 from 3 accommodating more natural outside mids/fwds such as Ibe (who has been extremely poor in my book this season) and Origi who looked lively in the right sided role Thursday.

Cheers, Ginger and Rob. Good ideas. Gives me a headache. Can’t help thinking I’d rather we start with Ings and Sturridge every game and Coutinho behind. Benteke to come on off the bench. Before TeamTalk your say went AWOL a lot of people were saying Benteke didn’t suit our game. Don’t you think they were right?

At the start of the season I was calling for Ings to be part of a front 3 but I now see that 2 up front is really the only way for us. I always thought Ings would be a pleasant surprise to people here and I’m just happy that he’s actually settling and I don’t have people pulling up more old quotes to rub in my face 😛

Ings is the striker we need up top, not just quality but character. The thing is, unless he starts absolutely blazing them in, he will surely be an impact sub alright when Benteke comes back.

These are one of those “good problems” managers have though so when I tell people that our front line is a lot more dangerous, them staying fit does have a lot to do with it but our backup is 100% better than last season.

Al Cester : No I don’t think people were right in saying Benteke isn’t right for our system. Play Sturridge or Ings up top alone and see what happens. When he’s back fit, I think he’ll be part of a front 2 as Brendan has learned that lesson. He even said post match once that he wasnt happy with the amount of times players were hoofing the ball at him. They were using him as a get out of jail card almost.

Much too early to make a judgement about Benteke, who has done pretty well with very little support when he has played. What has happened is that Ings has come in an made a decent fist of his opportunity, and has showed some signs of being able to form a partnership with Sturridge. Given that football management is not science (and I’m a scientist), what would you have Rogers do? Persist with Sturridge and Ings, or reintroduce Benteke. Me, I’m for seeing how the IAS partneship works our for a few matches, wwith Benteke on the bench as a super-sub.

Dearg doom ” what would you have Rogers do? Persist with Sturridge and Ings, or reintroduce Benteke.”

Even though Rodgers is no longer in charge, your question is still a valid one to mull over and I have to say, isn’t it a better quandary than what we had to consider last season? Which is one of the reasons I think that FSG pulled the trigger way too soon.

To answer you though, it seems that we may have 3 top strikers at the club. Benteke is out injured and you know Sturridge will at least pick up some niggling injuries (hopefully that’s all), so with that and the fact that we have European games and cup games to play, I don’t think we’ll have any issues of one of them being stuck on the bench for too long however, if I were to choose my 2, I guess I might have to give Sturridge and Ings a few more games.

It’s a tough call for me to make as I think Benteke has had a hard time given how he’s been used so far, yet scored 2 really sweet goals. My choice is made because I absolutely love Ing’s drive. He’s got way more technique than people expected and on top of that and his positional play is really phenomenal.

It’s a tough one. We have done really well with our summer transfers and I think Rodgers has gotten a really raw deal here when our form starts to improve as the players settle more and more and people will be saying “see! I told you!”.

Anyway, without changing topics too much, what will be end up paying for Ings? maybe £7m max? What a signing!

What is the hold up on the Ings fee all about?! I know the committee are supposed to award on his valuation at the time of leaving Burnley but they can’t help but be influenced by his recent form, if he keeps playing like this, hopefully he does, but we’ll likely have to shell out 15m for him.

I really hope that the committee are instructed to consider his value at the time of his contract ending. It wouldn’t make sense to consider any improvements as a player he has made since his move to us as a means for paying them more for training him as a youth.

He’s around better players, with much much better training staff/facilities and is giving 110% to impress at Liverpool. No longer the big fish in a small pond, he’s got to impress here and even then he may still get benched when/if Sturridge and Benteke are fit at the same time.

All the above, Liverpool have also been paying his wages since summer, also didn’t we reject a figure? If so then that will surely put a ceiling on it. If reason prevails.
